The following constitute the requirements for this course and are to
be completed before taking the final examination. The nature of some assignments
may vary among some members of the class. If you wish to work on a project
other than those listed, obtain approval from the instructor. All work
should be original work prepared for this course and reflect graduate level
quality.
1. Students are to use the library to locate, read, and summarize the following types of articles:
A. Research report from ERIC/RIE.
B. Review of research
C. Meta-analysis
D. Nonexperimental research study
E. Experimental research study
Specific criteria:
Summary follows correct format 2 pts.
Article is cited correctly 3 pts.
Article is appropriate to assignment 5 pts.
Quality of the summary 5 pts.
Total of 15 pts. per article summary.
2. Students are to prepare a review of the research on promising classroom practice and write a recommendation for the adoption of the practice. The instructor will provide specific criteria for this Research into Practice assignment. (50)
3. Class participation Students are expected to participate in class activities including outside preparation when necessary. The activities that are assigned from my website contribute heavily in determining class participation. (30 pts.)
4. Occasional assignment (other than reading) will be made on materials and/or activities discussed in the textbook. (10 pts.)
5. Examinations: Students will complete examinations at midterm and the end of the course. (100 pts. each) Our final examination will be during the regular class period per the Final Examination Schedule.
5. Students will critically analyze a research report provided by the instructor. (10 pts.)
