He has worked on the SWOSU Digitization project from its beginning, and has helped to implement and modify procedures within the digitizaton department. In 2011, this position was modified and Jason became the Digitization and Virtual Reference Technician. Education Jason has a B.A. from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Communication Arts, and is currently working towards his Master's Degree in Library and Information Studies, from the University of Oklahoma. He is a scholarship recipient of the "Partnering to Build a 21st Century Community of Oklahoma Academic Librarians” Project, funded through the Institute of Museum and Library Services in conjunction with the School of Library and Information Studies of the University of Oklahoma. Digitization & Virtual Reference The Digitization and Virtual Reference Technician's duties include digitizing relevant historical documents for the SWOSU Digital Repository. The job duties for this position include the following tasks: Scanning documents. Color correcting documents. Creating keyword searchable documents via Optical Character Recognition. Formating documents as Portable Document Files. Recording and distributing usage statistics for the SWOSU Digital Repository. Uploading finalized documents to SWOSU Digital Depository. Maintaining the off-site file archives of scanned material.
