CHEM 1004L:  General Chemistry Lab

Course Description

General Chemistry 1004 Lab is taken in conjunction with the lecture component of the course, with students receiving a single combined grade (75% from lecture, 25% from lab).  The class meets one afternoon per week for 3 hours.  Generally, the organizational pattern is to discuss the previous weekís lab, collect written lab reports, and present a formal lecture on the intricacies and potential dangers of the current lab, all within the first hour.  The next two hours are then committed to conducting a variety of experiments, all designed to provide concrete experiences which can fortify the understanding of the major topics of the course.  Particular organizational care is taken to coordinate subject matter in lecture and laboratory.
