Mr. Marc Mueller

Marc Mueller is the Director of Bands at SWOSU and also teaches Instrumental Music Conducting and Instrumental Music Education.
Mr. Mueller is a native of Tripp, South Dakota (population 600). He received his Master of Music Education from the University of Oklahoma and Bachelors of Music Education at South Dakota State University. Prior to his appointment at SWOSU, Mr. Mueller was the director of bands at Moore High School for 22 years.
Under his leadership, the SWOSU Marching Band has enjoyed tremendous growth and has a unique energy making it one of the premiere marching bands in the Southwest. The SWOSU Wind Symphony is one of the finest in the area promoting new music for wind band.
Mr. Mueller has championed numerous new compositions within the wind band genre. He has commissioned compositions from composers such as John Mackey, Jonathon Newman, Scott McAlister and David Maslanka. In addition to commissioning new works, his ensembles have been given the honor of providing world premiere performances for three separate compositions. These same compositions have gone on to be performed on national stages throughout the country by numerous collegiate and high school performing groups.
Mr. Mueller is also an accomplished musical arranger and marching band show designer. To date, he has over 200 arrangements to his credit. In the 2010 and 2011 state band championship season, over 40 percent of the shows in the top ten were designed by Mr. Mueller.
Mr. Mueller is active regionally and nationally as an adjudicator, clinician and consultant. He has presented seminars and workshops at various camps and clinics at colleges throughout the region.
Mr. Mueller and his wife, Christine, reside in Norman with their daughter, Abigail.
