MarlaAnne Russ is in her sixth year as the administrative assistant for the music department. She has been employed at SWOSU since 2002. She attended the University of Indianapolis in the 1970’s where she pursued studies in liberal arts. Marla has a wide variety of work experiences including retail division management and multi line insurance sales with companies such as Allstate and State Farm. Her last employment experience before joining SWOSU has been spent in law enforcement working at the Elk City Police Department and the Weatherford Police Department.

Marla is married to Ron, a SWOSU campus police officer, and together they have four children, (Cynthia, Brian, Elizabeth and Michael), eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Cynthia is a teacher in Colorado, Elizabeth teaches special education in Elk City and is a SWOSU graduate. Brian is a driver, and their youngest, Michael has attended SWOSU and is planning to finish a degree, but is currently in the US Army stationed at Ft. Carson, Colorado. He will be deployed this spring to Iraq.

The Russ family moved to Oklahoma in 1993 from Colorado to be closer to Ron’s family. They moved to Weatherford in October, 2001 after a tornado destroyed their home in Cordell. Ron and Marla have two “fuzzy children” still at home, a yorkie-poo, named Bruno and a min-pin, named Tootsie. They also enjoy getting away on weekends to spend time at their lake house, sitting on the front porch, fishing, or just relaxing and where they hope someday to retire.
