When you do research from the SWOSU Libraries web pages you have access to authoritative, scholarly, and reliable information.

You can use the Library's online resources 24/7 from anywhere with Internet access. Some of the Library's online resources require that you login before you can use them. If you have any problems accessing these online resources, please consult our page on Remote Access.

If you find something that you need for your research (book, journal articles, etc..) that is not located at SWOSU the library can get you that information free and, usually, in less than 10 days. Just fill out an Inter-Library Loan request.

Index: A listing of information that generally provides citations only.

Full-text: Indicates the entire article can be found within the database, no physical searching is necessary. Full-text displays as either HTML (displays like a webpage) or PDF (displays like a photocopy which is best for citing information because it provides page numbers).

Journal : Is scholarly information organized for a particular field of study and is directed to researchers or professionals in that field.

Magazine : Is information that focuses on the news, current events or popular culture and is directed to everyone.

Peer-Review or Refereed: is a well-accepted indicator of quality scholarship;  it is the process by which an author's peers read a paper submitted for publication. Recognized researchers in the field will evaluate the submitted work and offer a recommendation whether it should be published, revised, or rejected. Peer-reviewed articles meet the discipline's expected standards of expertise. Peer-reviewed journals can be identified by their editorial statements and/or instructions to authors and sources such as Ulrich's Periodical Directory.
